Škrip i Donji Humac – Antiquity and famous island stone

Our tour starts with a short transfer to Škrip, oldest place on the island. There are some of most important island monuments, Museum of Brač island, Roman mausoleum and sarcophagi, forts from 16th century and beautiful small streets and houses built in dry-wall technique. After history tour we continue to family Museum of olive oil where you will have the opportunity there to taste some of the best olive oils, and to sense all of its charms, as well as to try some of the products typical for this area: dried figs, fig marmalade and other seasonal products. You will learn about the old techniques in making olive oil. After Škrip we head for Donji Humac, one of the oldest settlements on the island, where the prehistoric findings in Kopačina Cave, just above Humac, are still testifying about those times. This place is very famous for its stone masonry because it is surrounded with several quarries. It is interesting that from our Brač stone even part of the White House in Washington was built. There's also a few families that for generations deal with these traditional job. One of those families is family Jakšić, renowned art family in Croatia. We’ll visit their gallery and workshop with amazing stone arts.
