A Gourmet Tour of Brač

A Gourmet Tour of Brač

How do you imagine a perfect day? If you imagine it as a gastronomic hedonism with plenty of joy, this is a right choice for you. Firstly we visit the oldest place on Brač – Škrip. There you shall have the opportunity there to taste some of the best olive oils, and to sense all of its charms, as well as to try some of the products typical for this area: dried figs, fig marmalade, among others. You will learn about the old techniques in making olive oil. After that we head for Donji Humac, one of the oldest settlements on the island, where the prehistoric findings in Kopačina Cave, just above Humac, are still testifying about those times.

This place is very famous for its stone masonry because it is surrounded with several quarries. It is interesting that from our Brač stone even part of the White House in Washington was built. There's also a few families that for generations deal with these traditional job. One of those families is family Jakšić, renowned art family in Croatia. We’ll visit their gallery and workshop with amazing stone arts. After these wonderful art pieces, and unique souvenirs made of Brač stone, we head for a good local restaurant where you will have the opportunity to try the best Brač specialties from the famous Brač lamb. Satisfied and cheerful, we head for Dračevica, a little village, founded in the 16th century, at the times of the Ottoman attacks, today famous by vine, olives and other plants farming. An easy stroll will take us to the third course: the dessert that is to sweeten the entire story. What dessert it is will remain a surprise.
